Personal Interests
I love everything outdoors, including hiking, kayaking, camping, and embarking on exciting adventures with my beloved dog, Lotus! As an honoured aunt, I take great joy in my role in the lives of my two wonderful nieces and nephews. Spending time with my family brings me immense joy, whether sharing in laughter or creating new traditions together! I am passionate about various sports, but softball holds an exceptional place in my heart as I played competitively for 12+ years.
At the end of a busy day, I enjoy unwinding with a comforting cup of tea, allowing myself to relax and recharge. My evenings often include cozying up on the couch to watch my favourite television series, which changes all too frequently!
Therapeutic Style and Approach
At Mindful Minds Psychotherapy, we believe therapy should be a collaborative process between you and your therapist. We strive to create a comfortable and supportive environment where you can feel safe to share your experiences.
Our therapeutic style is client-centred, meaning we focus on your unique needs and goals. We use a strengths-based approach to identify and build upon your strengths to help you achieve your desired outcomes. In all areas of therapy, Tyla encourages curiosity to explore her client's unique needs and perspectives, promoting a deeper understanding of their individual experiences and ensuring that every person feels valued and supported.

Tyla specializes in caregiver and co-parenting strategies that enhance communication, understanding, and collaboration.
She employs attachment-based therapy, an approach aimed at improving the emotional bonds between children and their caregivers. Attachment-based therapy focuses on understanding and addressing attachment issues that can arise from various experiences to help families develop healthier relationships by fostering open communication and emotional awareness. Through various techniques, including play therapy and family sessions, attachment-based therapy creates a supportive environment where children and parents can explore their feelings and strengthen their connection.
Play Therapy Style and Approach
Tyla utilizes play therapy approaches when working with children, in both non-directive and directive styles.
Non-directive play therapy is a therapeutic approach that allows children to express themselves freely through play. In this style, the therapist creates a safe and supportive environment where children can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. The therapist observes and reflects on the child's play, helping them to process emotions and experiences at their own pace. This method fosters creativity and self-discovery, empowering children to communicate in a way that feels natural to them.
Directive play therapy is a therapeutic approach that guides children in expressing their thoughts and feelings through play. In this style, the therapist plays an active role, offering structure and guidance to children to explore their feelings and experiences. By using specific techniques and interventions, the therapist encourages children to engage in purposeful play, promoting healing and personal development. This approach assists children in gaining a clearer understanding of their experiences and supports their development of effective coping strategies to navigate future challenges.
